We Believe…
that the Bible is the verbally inspired Word of God and without mistakes as originally written. It is the complete revelation of His will for salvation and the only unfailing rule of faith and practice for the Christian life. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21; John 17:17)
We Believe…
in one God, Creator of all things, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and that these three are co-eternal and of equal dignity and power. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19-20; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Colossians 2:9; Acts 5:3-4)
We Believe…
in the deity of Jesus Christ; His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit; His virgin birth; His sinless life; His substitutionary death on the cross; His bodily resurrection; His ascension to the right hand of the Father; and His personal, imminent return. (John 1:1; 14; 18; Luke 1:35; Romans 3:24-26; 4:25; John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Philippians 2:5-8; 1 Timothy 2:5; Isaiah 59:1-2; Romans 6:23; Romans 1:20-24; Ephesians 2:1-3; Psalm 139:13-16; Isaiah 44:2; 49:5; Jeremiah 1:4-5)We Believe…
that man was created by and for God; that by man’s disobeying God, every person incurred spiritual death, which is separation from God, and physical death as a consequence; and that all people are sinners by nature and practice. (Genesis 1:27; 2:17; 3:19; Isaiah 59:1-2; Romans 6:23; Romans 1:20-24; Ephesians 2:1-3; Psalm 139:13-16; Isaiah 44:2; 49:5; Jeremiah 1:4-5)
We Believe…
that Christ died for our sins and that all who believe in Him are declared righteous because of His sacrificial death and are, therefore, in right relationship with God (Acts 13:38-39; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 1:4-5; 2:8-10)
We Believe…
in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit indwelling all believers and thus enabling and empowering the life and ministry of the believer. (John 16:7-11; John 3:8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; 13; John 14:16-17; Ephesians 4:30; 5:18; 1 Thessalonians 5:19)
We Believe…
in the bodily resurrection of everyone who has lived, the everlasting life with God for those in right relationship with God, and the everlasting punishment of those who have rejected God’s forgiveness in His Son. (Luke 16:19-26; 23:43; 1 Corinthians 15:42-44; 2 Corinthians 5:8; Philippians 1:23; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9; Revelation 20:11-15)
We Believe…
Prayer is one of the ways for Christians to know God intimately and personally. Moreover, it is in prayer that we participate with God in what He is doing on earth. We discern the heart of God and add our “yes” to His Word and work. Prayer is the engine of ministry at the House of Prayer church. Every week there are prayer meetings in the to bring opportunities for corporate prayer.
We Believe…
We believe that the church is one big family, spanning the generations. Moreover, discipleship is a life-long journey of following Christ together, being formed as the people of God. House of Prayer Church is committed to each generation and every stage of life, from exploring the Bible with children to finding community as a single to leading discussions about God’s faithfulness with grandparents.
At House of Prayer, we strive to live out the mission Christ gave us to make disciples of all nations, and we strive to do that by BRINGING
THE KINGDOM wherever we are. It’s easy to come up with a mission, because Jesus gave it to us already. We have contextualized that mission into language that we feel expresses our heart. Our mission with you and any other person who calls House of Prayer their home is that you would live a life of Jesus living through you. Or, more simply stated, that you would live the Life.
These are the foundational core values and beliefs that everything at House of Prayer is built on.
Joy Experienced
We’re called to live the Life Jesus describes as “life to the fullest” (John 10:10). We believe that when we live the life that God has for us even in the dark and hard times of life, we can experience God’s joy and peace!
Worship God
Our worship of God drives the other areas of our strategy. We begin this walk of worship when we come to Jesus as our savior and continue as we worship him corporately (Sunday service and small groups) and personally through prayer and personal time with him.
Reach Out
To be so relevant and tangible in our service that if House of Prayer ceased to exist the most ardent critic of Christianity would be bummed. This is a great summation of what it means to reach out and serve one another. Whether in your own backyard, community wide events, or even worldwide missions, reach out and make a difference!
Love of God
Love of Others
Love of Life
Values
At House of Prayer, we are a family. And, like any family, we have values that define us. The values are the glue that holds all our events, messages, conversations, etc., together. You should see, hear and feel these values in all we do AND, as part of our family, it is your responsibility to bring these values to life in all you do:
Word Centered
The Bible is the actual Word of God and is therefore the authority for how life works. While the methods of how we apply the truths of scripture may vary, the theology and belief of the Bible’s authenticity and authority shape us. It is a love letter from God to each and every one of us. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21; John 17:17)
Prayer Driven
We are created for relationship with God and the primary expression of the relationship is prayer. We believe the church is to be a “House of Prayer” and that God does incredible things through prayer! (Matthew 21:13; Philippians 4:6; James 5:16)We are created for relationship with God and the primary expression of that relationship is prayer. We believe the church is to be a “House of Prayer” and that God does incredible things through prayer! (Matthew 21:13; Philippians 4:6; James 5:16)
Growth Expected
When we call House of Prayer our home, it is expected we continually grow in our relationship with God and others. This is accomplished by seeking God and his plan for our lives through prayer, study, service, and relationship. (Colossians 3:5-12)
Strategy
In order to accomplish the House of Prayer Mission in the lives of each person, we have identified a three-fold strategy:
Grow Up
It’s ok to not be ok, but it’s not ok to stay that way. At House of Prayer Church growth is expected of one another. That growth begins with relationships. There are learning and serving opportunities to get involved in to help you live a life a life of impact. Ultimately, we believe that life is better in community and want everyone to be involved in a Small Group.
Measures
How do we know when we’re winning? We believe that if people are continually living the life, then three things will be obvious in their life. They will Love God more, Love Others more and Love Life more.
Since we are created for relationship, we believe it’s vital that we live in consistent life-giving community. We want to come alongside and help all of our people develop these life giving, real relationships. We believe godly relationships prove they are genuine. In the same way, we don’t expect perfect people, but we want to be people whose lives and relationships are marked by increasing authenticity, integrity, and truth. (1 Tim. 1:5; Hebrews 10:24-25; Proverbs 27:17)
