Getting Started

Whether you are new to House of Prayer or a new believer, just getting to know Jesus, we want to equip you with everything you need to know!

At House of Prayer, we are a “come as you are” kind of church where we don’t expect you to be perfect, have it all together, etc. We all have junk and we have sin we deal with daily. But that doesn’t mean we have to do this thing called life, alone!  We want to walk alongside you though all the ups and downs of every season in life! We are here for you!

With that, we want to make sure we provide you with all the resources needed to thrive as a Christian and live the life that Christ has called you to live!

So... where to Start?

Salvation

What does it mean to be saved? Being saved means that you’ve accepted Jesus into your heart as your Lord & Savior, receiving the gift of salvation! Receiving His redemption of sin and shame. As a new born again Christian, you may face some questions and even some doubt. It doesn’t stop now that you’ve accept Jesus… you’re just getting started!

We want to come along side you and give you resources to help answer those questions and doubts.

John 14:6

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Baptism

What is water baptism? Water baptism is a public declaration of your commitment to follow Jesus. Baptism is an an important step and an act of obedience to the Word of God that is physical representation of the redemption of Jesus through his death and resurrection. Baptism is not only a public declaration of our salvation, but also signifies surrendering our life to Jesus.

Are you ready to take that next step in your walk with God and be baptized? If so, fill out our baptism card below!

Acts 2:38

And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

FAQ's about Baptism

What can I expect when I get baptized?

When you make the decision to get baptized, we’ll give you the opportunity to answer any a questions you may have prior to getting baptized.  The day you get baptized, we will have a large stock tank in the worship center which we will baptize you in. On occasion and weather permitting, we may be able to do our baptisms down in the river!

Typically a baptism only take a few moments. We will have our media team present to take photos and video of your special moment as well!

Will I be fully submerged under water?

Yes! At HOPE, we take part in a full body immersion baptism. Why do we baptize by immersion? We simply follow the example we see in the bible of Jesus and his disciples being baptized and coming up from the water.

“After Jesus was baptized, He went up immediately from the water. The heavens suddenly opened for Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming down on Him.” – Matthew 3:16

What ages can be baptized?

Though we don’t have a set age on which a child can be baptized, they do need to be able to make the decision to be baptized on their own and understand why they are wanting to be baptized. When the child is ready to be baptized, either our Pastor or Kids Ministry Director will sit down with the parents and your child to make sure they are ready to make that step in their walk with the Lord.

How do I sign up to be baptized?

We’re excited that you’re ready to make that step to become baptized! Whether you’re 100% ready to be baptized or you’re ready, yet still have some questions, we encourage you to complete our Baptism sign up form. Once you’ve completed the form, someone from our staff leadership team will be reaching out to you to answer any questions and arrange a time for you to be baptized!  You can complete the Baptism sign up form HERE.

Small Groups & Bible Study

Getting connected into a small group is one of the best ways to grow in your relationship with Jesus! Small groups not only are an amazing opportunity to study the Bible, but also gives you the opportunity to grow and connect with other like-minded believers, developing deeper relationships with one another and with Jesus!

We have several different small groups that meet regularly! To get connected with a small group, contact us at info@cody.church and we’ll put you in touch with our small groups coordinator to help you find a small group that is a great fit for you!

Membership Commitment

At House of Prayer, we are one big family that continually supports, loves and builds one another up! Though we do not require our church family to become a member, we do encourage membership. Why do we encourage membership?

We believe we are called by God to be committed, church members. Like any family, membership in the local church family comes with accountability and support. The Servant Leadership Team commits to supporting each member of House of Prayer in their continued walk with God. As members, it is important that we are aligned in core values and core beliefs and we are biblically accountable to each.
